Educator Events

CTLE-awarding Professional Development Events and more

Our professional development opportunities bring together experts and educators to explore Brooklyn’s history—from its public parks to its sewer pipes; the construction of its bridges and the ecology of the waterways they span; and the communities that made and make it a remarkable place to live, learn, and teach.

In addition to conveying rich historical content, our PDs emphasize practical techniques for teaching with archival materials, helping educators bring the city’s past to life for today’s students while fulfilling Next Generation Standards in Social Studies and ELA.

The Brooklyn Public Library is a New York State Education Department (NYSED) sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credit. Many of our educator events confer CTLE credits proportionate to their length and content—please review the event descriptions below for details.

CBH Education is generously supported by The Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund, Epstein Teicher Philanthropies, Nissan Foundation, The Pine Tree Foundation, and National Grid.
