Join us at Brooklyn Public Library’s Brooklyn Heights branch for a special Bars & Books listening session and live conversation celebrating Smile, the latest project from South Carolina's own Nick Grant.

Throughout the evening, we’ll listen through selections from the album, unpack standout lyrics and themes, and engage in a moderated discussion with the artist, Nick Grant, about the stories, experiences, and ideas that shaped the project. Together, we’ll explore how hip-hop can function as personal testimony, cultural reflection, and a living conversation around survival, memory, identity, ambition, and community.

Part listening session, part community conversation, Bars & Books is about bringing people together through music in a space dedicated to culture, learning, and shared experience. Whether you’re a longtime Nick Grant listener, a fan of thoughtful hip-hop, or simply someone who loves talking music, this event invites listeners to engage with rap music beyond the surface level. Expect sharp bars, meaningful discussion, and a room full of people connecting through hip-hop as both art form and living archive.

All are welcome. RSVP encouraged.
