Books Unbanned was founded on the principle of giving teens and young adults access to the materials they want to read.
We invite individuals ages 13–21 from anywhere in the United States to apply for a free BPL eCard, providing access to our full eBook/audiobook collection as well as our learning databases.
You can also apply for cards from our partner libraries at BooksUnbanned.com
For New York State residents
BPL’s eCard is always free to teenagers who live or go to school anywhere in New York State.
How to use the Books Unbanned eCard:
- Use the Brooklyn Public Library App or Libby App to easily access our entire digital collection, which has thousands of ebooks and eaudiobooks, including frequently banned books. Titles tagged with Always Available Online can be checked out any time with no wait for a copy.
- Access BPL's collection of subscription online resources.
- Manage your account, including checkouts and holds on the My Account page.
