POTW: Funny Face's Dental Maintenance

This Photo of the Week captures the fresh and delightfully-eerie grin of “Funny Face” as his iconic pearly whites get a fresh coat of paint from Tom “Skippy” Campagna in 1951. This grinning gentleman was introduced to Brooklyn in 1897 as the mascot of Steeplechase Park in Coney Island. His name is a play on the park’s tagline “Steeplechase - The Funny Place.”

I was wondering do you know what happened to the Funny Face sign? Back in the 1950's my mother took us (my sister, my cousin and me) to Coney Island. It was long trip from Washington Heights. We took the A Train to 59th Street and change to the D to the last stop. I remember the swings and the faster you went the they went vertical. Most of all I remember ridding on the Steeplechase horses.
