It's almost Halloween! Is your costume ready? This week's Photo of the Week is a digitized slide from the Harry Kalmus papers and photographs (ARC.046) showing two children dressed up in their Halloween best.

The photographer, Harry Kalmus, was born in 1924 and grew up in East New York. He attended Yeshiva Toras Chaim and Thomas Jefferson High School. After serving in World War II, he worked as a photographer for advertising agencies in Manhattan, as well as photographing events such as weddings and bar mitzvahs in Brooklyn. Kalmus and his family moved to Kew Gardens in Queens in 1957, so this photograph taken circa 1965 may be in the backyard of their house there.
