Happy fall! Things to appreciate in this photograph taken in the 1970s at the Clinton Hill Library: very cool but probably very warm checkered sweater, old BPL branding on the door, hand-drawn pumpkin poster made by library staff. Despite the unseasonably warm weather of late, I'm declaring it Pumpkins Outside, Books Inside season, starting now.
The Clinton Hill branch of the Brooklyn Public Library opened in October, 1974. The we don't know the exact year this photograph was taken, it must have been in the early years of the branch. Today, they have programs like storytime, embroidery, movie screenings, D&D, teen video game nights, and my favorite, the Highbrow/Low Commitment Book Club.
